151006_0918_NX1 A Glacial Erratic at Rockefeller Preserve
Shorn from a mountaintop and carried south as the Ice Age glaciers advanced, this 20 foot high and 65 foot around gneiss erratic was deposited as those glaciers melted and retreated north again. Erratics are identified when the house size stones are not native to the area they are found in,and can be traced with some certainty back to their place of origin.
